The Project Process
After we had our outline concept approved, we got to work planning in detail every moment of the video, working early on with a specific music track to put pace right at the heart of the project.
1
Creative Shooting
Shooting across nearly four days, we filmed in nearly every corner of both the Truro and Penwith campuses. To get the shots we wanted we had to film things in some pretty wacky ways. We mounted a GoPro inside a cement mixer, attached a camera to a plank of wood being carried, and we even rigged a camera to a rugby ball as we tried to get the most creative shots possible.
2
Post-Production
With all of this epic footage, the even harder work began. Getting all this distilled into 30 seconds of pure adrenaline. But, with some clever editing, animation and music and SFX work, we delivered something that really stood out.
3
Bumps in the Road
The intro of the video is key to getting people hooked, but after the first edit was delivered we collectively agreed it wasn’t quite right. So we had to undertake two reshoots before we were all happy that we had nailed it! Getting ads into different cinema chains means there can be differing requirements for how they want them delivered. This meant a bit of back and forth with the various agencies involved to make sure it was right for each company. In the end, it was all worth it.
4
Funny Moments
Getting our 360 closing shots meant rigging up students to walk around campus with the 360 camera mounted above their heads. They may have got some funny looks but at least the results look great! Have you ever been chased by a pack of rugby players who have to make a hard hitting, realistic tackle right in front of you without taking you out? Well we did to trial one of the shots in this project!
