With the pandemic easing, we were approached by Will Works and Surfers Against Sewage to help create an upbeat, rousing intro for their 2023 awards.

The Brief

Surfers Against Sewage is a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life.

We worked with Will and the team to record a powerful voiceover and bring this all together with high-quality stock footage to create something truly memorable for their awards intro video. We commit to give at least 1% of our turnover away to climate-focused causes every year. So for this project with Surfers Against Sewage, we undertook some of the work pro-bono to help give back to this vital cause.

The Process of Creating an Award Intro Video

Since 2019, Surfers Against Sewage have held their annual Plastic Free Awards to celebrate those fighting the growing plastic tide.

Taking stock

Working with a script we sat down with Will to make minor tweaks and plan the visual narrative of the video. Relying on stock footage, we needed to make sure that this video had high quality stock footage that provided the right context for the powerful voiceover. We then worked with Will and Tashinga Bepete to record the amazing voiceover that drives the video. Our team then pulled this all together with music and sound design to create the stunning final video.

As 1% for the Planet Members, we commit to give at least 1% of our turnover to climate focussed causes every year. So for this project, we undertook some of the work pro-bono to help give back to this vital cause.

Who Are Surfers Against Sewage?

Surfers Against Sewage is a marine conservation charity that was created in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers from the villages of St Agnes and Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall. They work to protect marine life beaches and coastal communities from pollution. This incredible grassroots environmental charity is dedicated to the protection of the ocean, waves, beaches and wildlife, lifting the lid on the sewage scandal and exposing the polluters who threaten the oceans.

What is an Award Intro Ad?

The video we made for Surfers Against Sewage succinctly introduced the aim of the charity, providing a soundbite for the introduction of their awards ceremony.
